Houses
We have 4 houses at St John’s which all children are placed into when they join the school.
They are:
Keeping (blue) Named after Renate Keeping who is a local artist |
|||
Paxton (yellow) Named after Joseph Paxton who designed the Crystal Palace |
|||
Grace (red) Named after W G Grace the famous cricketer who lived near the school |
|||
Coleridge (green) Named after Samuel Coleridge-Taylor the English composer who lived in the area of the school |
At the beginning of each school year, all of the children from each house have a meeting and they elect their house captains and vice house captains for the year.
Each term we have house competitions. The children meet together in their houses and pick their teams to represent them.
We also have a yearly on going house point competitions. Children can earn house points for general good manners, hard work and exemplary behaviour. These house points are gathered and totalled each week, and announced at Monday’s assembly.
