At the end of the term we have to say goodbye to Mrs Connor. After over twenty years at St John's she has decided to retire and I know you will join me in wishing her well for the future. Mrs Connor is a very caring and dedicated teacher who has had a positive impact on so many children and families during her time here and she will be missed.

Mrs Shilling has also decided to retire and take a well earned rest from her duties in the office. She will be leaving us at the end of April. She too has served the school faithfully for fifteen years and will be missed.

We have two new members of staff next term. Mr Richard Hagen joins us as a permanent member of staff and will continue to teach Opal Class. Miss Kath Scott joins is for the summer term and will be teaching Diamond Class.

There have been numerous sporting events this termwhere the children have represented the school well. I always receive compliments on their good sportsmanlike behaviour. These events have included the cross country run, football tournaments for boys and girls and a hockey tournament.

Our musicians have been busy too! Many of them took part in the Bromley Festival and were awarded certificates of merit and distinction.

Class led worship will continue to be on Fridays and a list is provided below. You are very welcome to join us at 9.15 in the hall (enter through the fire doors) when your child is involved.

Friday 23rd April: Sapphire Class

Friday 30th April: Pearl Class

Friday 4th May   : Jade Class

Friday 11th May : Amethyst Class

Friday 18th May: Emerald Class

Friday 25th May: Amber Class

Lent Project - This year the Lent Project has been to raise money for the Stephen Jota School in Uganda. The classes have been busy 'growing a fiver' through numerous ways. We are not sure yet how much money has been raised or which class raised the most. This will be announced at the End of Term Service. Thank you very much for your generosity both in terms of money and your time to help the children.

Next term we will be celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee ans using the Olympics as a focus on our learning - if your children find out anything interesting about these events they can share it in school! Our School Sports Days will have an Olympic feel!

Also next term the Governing Body will be carrying out a survey to find out your views on various aspects of the school. Their findings will be used to inform the School Improvement Plan for next year. Please watch out for the survey next term and be sure to complete and return the form as your views are important to us!

Thank you for your help with uniform. The children are looking so much smarter.

Reminder!

Indoor PE Kit: house t-shirt, navy or black shorts

Outdoor PE Kit: houst t-shirt, navy or black shorts, training shoes (or plimsolls) navy or black tracksuit top and trousers for cold weather

Children need their PE Kits in school all the time! Children who do not have their PE kit will use spare kit if it is available.

If there is anything I can help you with, please speak to me in the playground, phone me at the school or make an appointment to see me.
